We design and build private gardens across Melbourne’s east — Camberwell, Hawthorn, Kew and Balwyn. Considered planting, honest materials, and a garden that grows into itself rather than peaking the week we leave.
Services
From a single bed to the whole block
Most projects start with a design. Some stop there and go to another builder — that’s fine, and the drawings are yours either way.

Landscape construction
Our own crew builds what we draw. Bluestone, brick, timber and steel — set out properly, with drainage solved before anything is laid.

Planting & establishment
Plants chosen for your aspect and soil, not a catalogue. Irrigation installed at the same time, and a written schedule for the first two years.

Garden renewal
For gardens with good bones that have got away from their owners. Often the cheapest project we do, and frequently the most satisfying.
How it works
Four stages, no surprises
Stage one
Visit
An hour in the garden with you. Aspect, drainage, what you love, what you’d happily see gone.
Stage two
Design
A concept plan and planting palette, presented in person. Two rounds of changes are included.
Stage three
Build
A fixed programme and a fixed price. One person on site is your contact for the whole job.
Stage four
Settle in
We come back at three and twelve months to check establishment and adjust the irrigation.

About
Two people who kept turning up to the same job
Rowan & Fitch began when a garden designer and a landscape builder found themselves on the same site for the third time in a year, each fixing what the other trade hadn’t thought about. It seemed simpler to do both.
We take on a limited number of projects at once, which is the only way we know to keep the person who drew your garden involved in building it.
Based in Camberwell, working across Melbourne’s inner east.
